Brit var øresundssolist i 2004 og vandt førstepris i Pittsburgh Flute Club Competition 2008. Hun har været solist med DR SymfoniOrkestret, Malmö SymfoniOrkester og Københavns Ungdomssymfoniorkester. Brit har modtaget flere legater både i Danmark og Norge. I foråret 2013 vandt Brit pladsen som solofløjtenist i Det Kongelige Kapel, hvor hun nu virker efter en årrække at have været ansat som alternerende solofløjtenist i Malmø Symfoniorkester.
Brit Halvorsen was born in Norway. She received highest grades on her diploma exam from the Royal Danish Academy of Music in 2007. During her studies, she was an exchange student at the National Superior Conservatory of Music and Dance in Lyon. In 2007, she was the only candidate to be accepted into the Artist Diploma program in Pittsburgh, studying with Jeanne Baxtresser.
Brit was an Øresund soloist in 2004, and won first prize at the Pittsburgh Flute Club Competition in 2008. She has been a soloist with the Danish National Symphony Orchestra, Malmö Symphony Orchestra and Copenhagen Youth Orchestra. Brit has won several scholarships, both in Denmark and Norway. In spring 2013, Brit won the Principal Flute position in the Royal Danish Orchestra, after working several years as Associate Principal Flute in Malmö Symphony Orchestra.

Under studiet var hun udvekslingsstudent ved Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse i Lyon.
